OUR STORY

Designed and crafted in South Sydney, NSW, Pro Lure is lead by Heath McGeachie who has been is determined to design and developed the next level of lures and fishing equipment for a modern generation.

Pro Lure design

Every lure in the Pro Lure range is born of a common purpose. Each lure is designed to catch more fish and better fish, more consistently. Our lures are designed by anglers for anglers and it is our shared, deep passion for fishing that drives Pro Lure performance. A Pro Lure design is not influenced by market concerns and budgets.

Our lures are not a response to consumer trends or a dash for shelf space. We know, that only brilliant, well considered lure designs, take records and feature on tournament podiums. This is our goal and indeed our success. It is through our proven success in this field that we seek to earn a place in the tackle boxes of all Australians who share our passion for casting lures.

IDEA/CONCEPT

Ideas can come from anywhere at any time. Usually, you’re out on the water when brilliance strikes. It can be inspired by location, conditions, a target species or watching bait fish. 30 casts without a touch can also be responsible for a design revelation.

SKETCHES

There is a lot of discussion over the initial sketches. Ideas are pooled, questions asked and refinements made. Enthusiasm flavours the exchange of ideas and inputs. The excitement is palpable as an idea becomes something real.

CAD 3D

The 3D images really brings the lure to life. All design elements have been considered and included. Still, discussion is encouraged. Refinements are justified or relegated. Eventually, a final design is agreed upon for prototype. From target and technique to texture. It’s ready. Soon, we’ll be able to touch the first incarnation.

PROTOTYPING

Everybody loves it when the prototype is delivered. The lure is now a tangible, usable item. Everybody will be involved in testing. And they can’t wait. Still a long way to go however, until packaging and distribution.

TESTING

Testing is rigorous, and we a highly critical. If it is not perfect, it’s not good enough and changes are made. We test and refine until the lure performs exactly as we want it to. We employ high profile, tournament pros to ensure we have a neutral, discerning eye critique the lure.

PRODUCTION MOULDS

With the prototype tested to within an inch of its life, and finally agreed as perfect, the production moulds are manufactured. From this mould, another Pro Lure master piece, destined for trophies and podiums, will be delivered. These are Pro Lure moulds, of Pro Lure designs.

Our Mission

Pro Lure began with a mission, easy to state, yet very challenging to realise. Our vision was to create lures of excellence that would grace the trophies and podiums of Australias most respected pro angling tournaments. As vision became reality, and the tastes of success infectious, an inevitable desire to grow beyond our original charter quickly followed. It was determined that, while continuing to remain dedicated to servicing the pro angling market with lures of distinction, we would endeavour to see Pro Lure represented in the tackle boxes of all anglers who share our passion for refined lures of outstanding quality. Pro Lure. By anglers, for anglers.

The Pro Lure team

Pro Lure designs, survives and thrives on its team ethic.
We are bound by our love of fishing and our desire to
create tournament winning lures.

HEATH MCGEACHIE

Heath McGeachie is the heart, soul and unstoppable drive behind the Pro Lure brand.

Based in Sydney, Heath is usually out fishing Australias’ iconic and historical Botany Bay. While the Bay might be his regular haunt, he is currently spending a lot of time offshore chasing game fish. The Deep Blue is, however, quite some nautical miles from his real passion. McGeachie is a dyed in the wool inshore hunter. He’s obsessed with Bream and Mulloway and loves pulling big Kingfish out of the wash on light spin gear. Sydney harbour has some massive Kingfish, monsters that are more than possible from little jetties off Vaucluse. That’s enough to get any angler inside the heads.

As a young boy, Heath learned his angling skills from his father during their frequent holidays to the fishing paradise of Port Stephens. Here, rock and beach fishing were the order of the day and it wasn’t until later that he discovered the world of lures. Sussex inlet in Southern NSW was the place McGeachie first played with artificials. After purchasing some handmade hard bodies from a local market, Heath began throwing them at Bream and Flathead. He was astonished by the concept of tricking fish to the bite with a manmade object.

He could not have imagined that this early amazement would eventually become Pro Lure.

With drawing and design in his blood, with a deep love of fishing and a passion for lures, hindsight has demonstrated that Heaths’ commercial venture into lure design was an odds on bet. For Heath, Pro Lure is the culmination of a perfect mix of passions, focused into a product and designed to be shared. Seeing so many anglers using his products is extremely satisfying.

Revelling in the tournament victories of Pro Lure pro staff has been profoundly rewarding. McGeachie knows the Pro Lure brand will continue to endure and succeed. He knows Pro Lure is destined for tournament podiums and trophies but, just as importantly, is destined for the tackle boxes of all Australians who share his passion for fishing with lures.
